Well written songs, beautifully produced by Dangermouse. Deserved the prize. Well done .
A Stunning Album
Deserving of the accolades
I first came across Michael Kiwanuka when his previous album, Love & Hate (2016), was receiving heavy airplay, and I went to see him perform live off the back of it. This album, recent winner of the coveted Mercury Prize, and his third consecutive nomination for said award, is perhaps even better than its wonderful predecessor. It’s even more soulful than his previous works, and whilst the overall sound is a nostalgic one, it’s still very much an album of its time.

Great no sorry brilliant album , soul funk jazzy. Your the man
Average at best
Not sure what all the hype is about this album - its pretty average at best and dross at worst!
After two previous nominations, his best album wins the Mercury Prize for his soulful album.
Thought this wouldn’t be my kind of music. Rock and blues being my choice. How wrong was I, this is an excellent extremely personal album that he shares with us.
All I can say is throw any pre conceived ideas out the window and buy this album
